Tips for Writing a great dating profile
We reveal the Secrets to writing a great dating profile and help you avoid some of the most common mistakes and make sure your profile is popular.
Liar, liar, pants on fire! You're probably worried that all women must be searching for a 6'4" Daniel Craig lookalike, or that all guys are looking fir a size 6, blonde 25 year old, but don't be tempted to lie on your profile. The biggest complaints about online dating profiles is that men overstate their height and women understate their dress size. There's nothing wrong with being 5'10" or being a size 12/14 - what is wrong is to pretend you're something that you're not.
Stand out from the crowd. The most overused phrase in the entire world of online dating goes something like this: "I enjoy nights in, curled up on the sofa with somepone special, watching the lastest blockbuster with a glass of wine. Most seasoned online daters, just hit the next button when they see this. Tell people what you're really about, what makes you passionate, your pet hates, the greatest day of your life... anything except that you love being curled up on the sofa with a glass of wine
LOL, ROFL, CU, M8. Text speak in a profile is a big no, no. If you can't be bothered to, or are unable to, write full words, you're going to give the impression that you can't be bothered making much of an effort. Same goes for spelling mistakes and unfinished sentences.
Photos that make you look like one of MI5's most wanted, are unsurprisingly, not ok. Selfies are ok, if they don't look like a selfie, which means either you've got orangutan like long arms or it results in an close-up of half your face! Either way, by the time you've managed to take a decent photo, you might as well have asked your friends if they have some good photos of you. A great tip is to ask a friend of the opposite sex, to chose your photos. We instinctively know what our gender is looking for and you'll increase the number of people who contact you. Don't believe me? Try it out for yourself and then report back to me - if you have time between all the dates that is. You'll need at least 2 photos, one of your face/upper half of the body and one a full portrait. On and the photos should be recent (with the last 2 years). A friend of mine recently met one guy off a dating site who looked super hot. Problem was the photo was taken about 15 years previously - he was now, err quite craggy, bald and about two stone heaver. There was no second date.
